Detroit makes history (?)

At the end of the day on Saturday, April 8, the Detroit Tigers at 6-0 had the best record in baseball. At the same time, the Detroit Pistons had the best record in basketball, and the Detroit Red Wings had the best record in hockey.

I'm not sure, but I don't think that's ever been done before. The hard part of the triple crown is basketball and hockey, which are both almost done with their seasons when baseball is just starting.

I know no team has ever won championships in both hockey and basketball the same year; I think the Pistons and Red Wings will set that record this year, but even if that doesn't happen, Detroit's already had a heck of a sports year.

Now if only those Lions could get with the program....
